I. Knowledge aims
1. Sound/t/ and words: pet, cat, carrot, bat, rabbit and parrot, etc. P14
2. Two short passages, P14
II. Language skills
1. Students are able to listen, speak, read and recognize the words and the sounds of letter “t” and “te” monogram: pet, cat, carrot, bat, rabbit, parrot, chocolate, white, etc.
2. Students are able to read two short passages on Page 14.
3. Students are able to talk about their pets in groups.
III. Emotion aims
1. Students are able to learn in four and cooperate with each other.
2. Students are able to learn English actively and enjoyably.

1. Students are able (willing) to know more about the pets
2. Students are able to think and understand “We should take good care of the pets and protect animals.”

1. Students are able to discover and find out the sound of /t/ and words with /t/ sound by research.
2. Students are able to understand and use what they have learned to communicate, talk and write by teamwork.
VI: Teaching key and difficult points
1. Students are able to listen, speak, read and recognize the words and the sounds of letter “t” and “te” monogram.
2. Students are able to chant and catch the rhythm and rhyme.
 Teaching Strategies:
1. Communicative method: Set an information gap, have the students can get the meaning by reading and talking.
2. Task-based method: Give Ss a piece of paper with an example, demands the Ss to talk about “my pet” in groups, and then write a short passage.
3. Communicative method: Use CAI, pictures to help the Ss talk and communicate.
 Teaching procedures:
Step1
1. Greeting and free talk.
Questions: What’s your name?    (I am Miss Cute.)
         How old are you?   ( I am twenty-eight.)
         What’s the weather like?   (It’s hot.)
         What subject do you like?  (I like art.)
         What color do you like?  (I like white.)
(Purpose: Have the teacher know more about the Ss, and help the Ss know something about this lesson. At the same time, lead in some word included the sound /t/.)
2. What color do you like? Do you like…? Do you have…?
Do you like white?
Gogo likes white. He has a white pet.
(Purpose: Talk about the colors and the things, lead in the topic “pets”.)
Step 2
1. What is a pet?
  Have the students make sentences.    A dog is a pet.
(Purpose: The students can understand the meaning of “pet” with the pictures, and make the sentences. Help the students find more words included the sound /t/.)
2. Gogo has a pet. Can you guess what it is?
It’s white. It has two long ears. It has a short tail. It likes to eat a carrot. It can fun fast
3. Write the words included the sound /t/ on the blackboard.
   it, white, short, eat, carrot, fast
4. Read the short passage “Gogo has a pet.”
  Then try to find more words included the sound /t/.
  Read, say and circle.
(Purpose: Teacher gives the students some tips about Gogo’s pet, have the students get the answer from the information gap and try to attract the students’ attention on the words included the sound /t/.)
5. Ask and answer.
What’s Gogo’s pet, a rabbit or a parrot?
What does it like to eat?
Does the rabbit like the parrot?
Step 3
1. Introduce “Kate” to the students. It’s a cat.
2. Show the picture of “Kate”, have the Ss try to describe it.
Use the sentences “It has _________. It’s __________.”
3. Read the short passage about “Kate”.
(Purpose: Help the students make up a short passage according to the pictures and the sentences. The students can use more words to communicate in groups.
Step 4
Chant.
What is that?
Is it a jet?
No, no!
It is a bat.
A black black bat.
It flies fast.
It likes to eat an insect.
(Purpose: Chanting is meant to practice the Ss’ sense of rhythm and rhyme about language speaking. On the other hand, it makes the Ss be more interested in this class. )
Step 5
1. Do you have a pet? What is it? If you don’t have a pet, what pet do you want?
