Design purpose:  This step is speaking and listening part. This step change the boring and difficult material into an easy dialogue, it can be easy for the students to understand. Moreover, with the students to act out the dialogue, it can develop the students speaking ability on one hand, and arouse the other students’ interests to the biggest extent on the other hand. In addition, this step is a good beginning for the discussion next part.

Step 5 Games—finding your friends
1. Send some word cards to some students at random.
2. Ask the students to find out their friends according to the differences of American English and British English
3. Show some more differences
4. Sum up: English spoken in different countries is different from each other.


Design purpose: Before class, the students have been asked to do some surveys about the differences between American English and British English in different items; they got enough information for the games. The games will arouse their interests in class,
This step is necessary for the students to know more about the differences between American English and British English in different items and they will get more words in this step which is for the preparation to the role playing.

Step 6 Group work--roles- playing
1. Set a situation to the students
You are an American. You have arrived in a strange city in England to watch a soccer game match. /see a movie/ visit uncle’s apartment ,You need to find a cab/taxi to take you to the re.

2. Ask the students to imagine that you are in such a situation talk with your partner and then make a good dialogue. (想象你处于这样一种情形,与你的同伴一起编一个对话。)

3.give them some useful expressions

4. give them an example
   A: Excuse me, madam.
B: Can I help you?
A: Yes, I want to see a soccer game. Can you tell me how to get there?

A: The soccer game.
B: Er, the soccer game? You mean the football match? Oh, It’s far away from here. I think you should take a taxi.
A: Taxi? Pardon? I beg your pardon?
B: Maybe you can say cab.

5. Role-play.
Design purpose: This is a step of application and practice. After knowing the importance, the usage and the differences, the students put the knowledge into practice. By using the words and expression to make dialogues, they try to innovate, develop the ability of imagination to the full and improve their abilities of speaking and listening.
The group work ensures that every student takes part in the activity. During the discussion, they open their mouths, try to find out the answers and it can develop their enthusiasm and improve their spoken English.
The purpose for this part is in order to develop the students’ abilities of collecting, dealing and solving the problems. It will help them create the Good teamwork spirit, communication skills and co-operation when facing the problems.

Summarize what we have learned in class.

Design purpose: This is a step to sum up the lesson. It brings all we got to review and help the students have the expression s and structures to form a passage. Students are able to generalize knowledge and transfer it between circumstances.
Step 8 Homework
1. Memorize the new words in the lesson
2. Prepare the reading for next period.
Design purpose: This is an extension of the lesson, it helps the students consolidate the knowledge in class and apply for the daily life. And it also help them Prepare the reading for next period.
